VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA
Chapter 124
Asheville ~ North Carolina
________________________________________________________________________________
“Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.”
We are a chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America. The Council of Vietnam Veterans was formed in 1978 and evolved into the Vietnam Veterans of America in 1979. It originated as a veterans service organization made up of and dedicated to Vietnam Veterans. Acting as a non-profit organization the V.V.A. receives no federal funding.
The membership has approximately 75,000 members and over 500 chapters.
The chapter is comprised of Vietnam War Veterans, Vietnam War Era Veterans, and honorary members. As a group we are involved in community activities, special events on national holidays, and support other veteran organizations.
Individually some of us are also volunteers assisting our brothers and sisters who are patients at the
Asheville V.A. Medical Center.
Our membership is representative of individuals who served our country in the various military services.
We have our own memories about our experiences during the Vietnam War. Some of our memories are reflective and silent… heard only in our own mind, some are shared out loud, but we all have memories that stay with us forever. One thing we have in common is the honor we have for serving our country.
We invite you to take the time to browse through our website.
